Default K&N Series 63 Aircharger

I've done a search and there seems to be some conflicting info on whether the K&N Series 63 Aircharger is a direct bolt-on for MY06+ or whether it needs to be drilled for the intake thermometer. It seems like maybe when the series 63 first came out, the changes hadn't been made but then sometime after k&n incorporated the changes necessary for the series 63 to require no modifications for 06+ cars. I'd really rather not have to bother drilling a hole in my intake so I'm wondering if anyone has bought the series 63 recently and whether it required any modification to fit an 06+. To confuse things further, I've noticed on the K&N site that when I enter a MY07 2.2L s2000, it says I need a series 57 fipk...? I tried entering a MY07 2.0L and now its back to series 63. If I remember correctly, when I was looking at the K&N site a few months ago, it told me I needed the series 63, so I'm wondering if something changed, or if the site is wrong or what? Sorry for the confusing post but I'm confused too!

It requires drilling - one hole, takes 30 seconds.

Yup, really quick to drill (5/8" hole) and really easy to install. Just the sound alone is worth the upgrade. I haven't had a chance to dyno with it installed yet but it feels like it makes a few horses.

K&N's instructions are very good. You can look at them on there website. I had no problems at all. Drill the hole, it's easy...

the K&N is an awesome setup. I love mine and havent regretted it once. I didnt have to drill a hole on mine, but it wouldnt have stopped me from getting one since it is a really easy to do. get it, you wont regret it.

OK so next question. Do I get the series 57 FIPK, the series 63 Aircharger, or does it not matter? Do both come with the grommet for the hole I'd have to drill and whatever parts are necessary for 06+? Thanks again!

the 57 series and the 63 series is the same intake. the only difference is that the fipk comes with a carb # while the other does not. the 63 series are released before a part goes in to be tested for carb and thus the reason why they are called the aircharger offroad system, and once they have passed carb certifications, the part becomes a fipk kit.
