Well, everyone can tell him that the cops probably won't be able to tell....so what happens when they are able to tell? You just screwed the OP up. Worst case scenario, they can impound your car...Best case, is just a fix it ticket. Instead of telling him it's ok and dont worry too much.... You have to let him know all the possibilites and risks he is taking with an illegal mod. Even though he is not asking if it's carb legal or not....we're letting him know why it is illegal since he didn't post it in his statement. Especially, living in Cali, I know they are alot more strict there than anywhere else. Giving him answers "don't worry, I doubt they can tell the difference" is just not sufficient. It's like sending a mute to a singing contest(not trying to offend anyone). At least the OP is now aware of consequences and reasons on whatever decision he makes.
