Default K&N Filter Cleaner on AEM

Is it ok to use the K&N Air Filter Cleaner on an AEM Air Filter?

That's what I was thinking, but after calling both companies they both tell me that I shouldn't mix the brands because the filter element is different. Chances are they are just BSing me, but I want to be sure I'm not BSing myself. hehe.

In that case I'll just buy the K&N one locally. I'd have to order the AEM anyway. Thanks guys
