Just wanted to warn you guys in regards to speedcraft

Hi Larry, next time you talk with Todd, you might suggest that he or Tracy should call Hybrid. That's something Hybrid can rightly expect and he deserves. In any case, Hybrid's right -- this is gracious of you (but then that's not something I'm surprised by). Hybrid, good luck. I'd be upset, as well, although (again) my experience with Speedcraft's been very positive.

Speedcraft should be calling, I am sure they have a better relationship with
Tial that the customer. Plus the wastegate was included in the kit.
Seems to be Speedcraft problem that hybrid's.

I don't know all the details so I'm not concerned with who should be calling Tial (although on the surface my instinct tells me that it should be Speedcraft backing the product they are selling.)
anyhow... Speedcraft should most definitely be calling Team Hybrid. 6 months without a response??? WTF??? Good luck Hybrid, I hope BS2KT (or anyone else) can help you out.

I agree as well. Speedcraft should of taken care of the problem a long time ago. When I had a problem with my Vortech kit I called Vortech and they replaced the part the next day.

Hi Eric,
Sorry you have had this problem in communicating with us. I personally have
seen no messages or been asked to call you back, and honestly had not given
thought to this situation as I thought it had already been resolved. The
wastegate in question was tested by us, both static tested on the workbench
and dynamically tested on an actual S2000 with our turbo system. It was
found to control boost at .3 bar flawlessly using only the internal spring
and straight intake pressure to the lower diaphragm housing. It was also
sent to Tial for inspection, at which point they reported results identical
to ours. I suggest checking over your control line routing and inspecting
the hose itself for leaks, cuts, or abrasions, as well as making sure that
you have a proper boost source and that the hose is routed to the proper
connection (the lower housing) on the wastegate. If you have any further
questions or need any help at all, please feel free to call at any time and
ask for ME specifically. Also please be aware that we only check this Email
periodically, so a phone call is by far the fastest way.
Once again, my sincere apologies for your trouble.
Regards,
Tracy Grimm, proprietor
Speedcraft Industries, Inc.
so uh... do I still get my wastegate back?
Guess Ill be giving them a call manana. Thats very nice of them to send me this great letter.....Ill keep you all informed.

Hybrid, can you tell us more about the overboosting? I've had situations where my boost guage shows more boost than the wastegate should permit, sometimes even when it's clear (based on throttle position and rpm) that the turbo isn't even fully spooled. It's only happened a few times and mostly I've just ignored it, but I've never been sure whether I should be concerned or not. Thanks.

Cbender,
you situation sounds unique to me. Because in my situation, I was clearly overboosting to 12 + psi, and the tuner had to let off the gas before it boosted to 14 psi. ....or god knows whatever psi it would have gone to before my motor went bye bye.
I would check the plumbing in regards to your boost gauge, and how that is connected with your vacuum lines. Just make sure that you arent in fact....boosting as high as your gauge indicates.

Thanks, Hybrid, for the response.
While it's hard to know for sure without being hooked into some electronic monitoring equipment, I'm pretty sure I've had suffered problems -- (i) excessive boosting (up to about 9psi, maybe 10psi), which has happened only a few times and usually after the car's been sitting for long periods, which leads me to believe it might be attributable to "stickiness" of some sort within the wastegate, and (ii) seemingly erroneous boost readings from the boost gauge.
Both have happened, maybe, half a dozen times in 9 months. Otherwise, the boost controlling hardware seems to work just fine.
