It makes sense now. Not only do you have an extra shift, your 4th gear with the 4.10 diff is a little bit taller than your 3rd gear with the 3.27. A light just clicked on inside my head. Thanks for clearing that up.
I bet if the Stang had some more ponys under the hood and more traction, I think you would have an advantage with the 4.10
I would assume that the 6 speed of the S2K would benefit from lower gears. The only way to tell would be to install a 4.57 gear.
Peace out happy new Year

This may be a silly question, but I was wondering how it would work out with the 2004's new gears. It almost sounds like the 4.57 or the 4.77 would be a perfect with the new gears. With the longer 6th your highway driving should still be comfortable with the extra umph down low, where the 4.77 may be too much for SOME (see the SOME statement) on the older s2k's because of the higher RPM's and fuel consumption.

Ok, a local guy here, msm_s2k had this mod done to his S2000 before I did and I wanted to know how it affected his top speed. He travels to Wendover often for SCCA Pro Solo events and it is one open freeway to get there. Before the 4.77 gear he topped out at 148 MPH. After the gears were installed, he went to Wendover again and manged to get to 147 MPH. I was sold right then and there.
