It will top out at about 146.6 mph at 8,900 rpm. This is MY 00-03 with stock rear tires. With the stock 4.10 gears, MY 00-03 will top out at about 170 mph. This is calculated at 8,900 rpm with stock tires.
240 hp is not quite enough power to make this thing turn 8,900 revs in 6th gear. If you had a straightaway that was about 8 miles long, was steeply downhill, and you had a strong tailwind, you might be able to reach 155 mph.
On the otherhand, with the 4.77's, this thing should easily reach 145 mph with the quickness. I don't have the 4.77 gears, so I am speculating that it is very quick with the 4.77 gears.

Thinking about getting the 4.57 gears. This way I will have the best of both worlds. Both a little more civilized streetcar on the highway, and some extra acceleration for the twistys.

So please help me understand... Doing this will give me better excelleration, but will cut down my top speed? If so that is fine, I don't ever get up to 146 mph, let alone 170 mph.

bigal, that is correct. the only bad thing is that your rpm will be higher when cruising on the highway. the stock final gear is aggressive enough, so if you're used to that then you should be fine with the upgraded gears.
