Default Just upgraded from 4.44 to 4.77!

I bought a used diff and sent it to Ganley Honda. At Ganley honda they installed a ricks 4.77 ring and pinion. They then sent it back to me. I Installed the updated diff in my car the other day. It took about 5 hours to remove my existing diff and install the updated one.
I took my time and did it by myself. Really not that hard just alot of stuff to unbolt and a little cramed with the car on Jack stands. But I did it and it felt good.

Now the good stuff. I had the 4.44 for about 8 months or so. They where great but I wanted some more ommmmffff. The 4.77 are great it pulls really hard down low. I am taking it easy at first just to make sure everthing settles down ok. But my first impressions is that the car pulls very hard. It gets to the redline really quick .

I did some gtech runs with my 4.10 and my 4.44 mostly 0 to 60 runs. In a week or so I will do some with the 4.77 ring and pinion to see the improvement.

Wow the car really pulls hard with these gears. I am very happy. The 4.77 are awesome!

I'd like to thank Jeff at Ricks and Jeff at Ganley Honda! I got awesome service and the diff
is quiet and tight!

Good stuff. Hardtopguy strikes again.

Aaaaah, I should not be reading all these modding posts. This is how I spent near 10k on my old car on mods. I promised myself that I will keep my S2000 stock. Stock until no more stock S2000s are left on the road. Keep it classic and all original as 1967 original Miura goes for $100k well...you get the idea but man....you guys are making me itching for some mods.

I'm curious to hear how this affects your highway manners... I want the ability to COMFORTABLY hop in my car and drive from Texas (where I live) to Vancouver, Canada, and all the way down the PCH without going insane or numb or both.

Its a little high strung on the highway. It certainly makes 6th gear more responsive. I can see after hours of driving on the highway you might want something a little more laid back. But it fits me like a glove. I am a big fan of acceleration and with the gears it kicks the fun level of the s2000 up a notch. In tight twistes and curvey country roads with dips and elevation changes these gears are just amazing. Drive around in fifth gear with the stock ring and pinion. If this is annoying do
not get the 4.77.

Buckwheat, welcome to the 4:77 club , wait till you catch 2nd gear! This is one of the best mods I have done so far. The highway isn't that bad, 5,200 rpm @ 80 MPH in 6th so far this hasn't annoyed me. I love 3rd gear. Please post tour 1/4 mile gains. I am guessing that I am at 5 seconds for 0-60 now. Enjoy

I think he means pick a situation where you would normally use 6th gear, and drive it in 5th instead, to simulate the effects of the 4.77 ring & pinion. Noise level and fuel consumption should be increased, and top speed lowered.
