It's not like the S2k does push you back in your seat very much. It's a great car, but acceleration isn't that mind blowing to be honest. Nevertheless, VTEC is clearly noticeable when it kicks in (yo!).

Car was great...I couldn't get VTECH to kick in.......Car belonged to an older guy so I don't think it was abused......I hit 7rpm then 8rpm....and nothing....What do you guys think?
Did you let it get up to temperature? I'm assuming this was a test drive.

If you've never driven an S2000 before, you may have false expectations on what the whole "VTEC kicking in" thing is all about. VTEC isn't an extreme kick in the pants...it isn't an afterburner. You'll feel a little boost but primarily it's something you'll hear. Cruise along at about 5,500 rpm in 3rd or 4th gear for a couple of seconds and then floor it, you'll notice it.

You have to be in 1st or second gear to really feel/hear it. You also have to be at at least 80% throttle to feel it...floor the gas next time from a 1st gear roll and you will feel and hear it change over unless he has a bad solenoid or very low oil level.

I've noticed that it's nowhere near as distinct as my H22A4's crossover point, but it is noticeable. Then again, the torque is far less perceptible in general due, I guess, to the gearing.

If you did know what you were doing, I wouldn't purchase a car that didn't crossover correctly.

HAHA

What's pushing you back in your seat? 162 lb-ft?
