My stock air filters getting kind of dirty so I went ahead and ordered a K&N air filter at a local performance shop today. Should be here on Tuesday or so.
Anyone else on the boards have any experiance with them? When I receive the air filter would I need an adapter or something or does the K&N just fit to install? Never took the fair filter out but its just basically pulling the top of the filter out of the hose correct?
They told me it was a direct stock replacement so nothing else is needed...
I was thinking CAI but I still have a warranty and I read on some boards that the K&N got the s2k anywhere from 2-6HP on a dyno. Whether thats true or not, I needed a new air filter and K&N worked well on my 300zxTT (which it should since it had 2 turbos) so why not. Even If I gain 1HP I'll still be happy.

I replaced my original filter with a K&N. I didn't notice any difference in performance or gas milage.
Make sure you check the inside of the filter for debris before you put it on, I found a piece of rubber about 3"X1/4" inside the one I bought.
Also it is a direct replacement for the stock filter, no adapters or modification required.

You probably will not see any performance gain with the K&N OEM replacment filter but if you put on the K&N Filter Charger (CAI) I've seen the proven dyno results that you mentioned which is about 2-6 hp consistently across the rev band.

It takes a couple of weeks before you'll feel a difference, but you should notice a little better throttle response and more VTEC response- nothing major though.
