I know in a lot of cases people loss power from full cat back exhaust on NA cars . Has any one just replaced mufflers with say HKS unaversal ones for some sound and the look with out lossing power

 

I dont have the hks mufflers, but I did replace the stockers with some magnaflows. I did loose a small bit of mid range torque, but now have more top end when. if you want sound with out the cost, try it.

 

I planned on doing this but never went through with it. I did eventually do a dual straight pipe exhaust for the track. It saves weight more than anything else. I dynoed it with the stock exhaust and the straight pipes and I lost 1hp with the pipes. Of course, most of the exhaust system is stock. I just flanged it after the Y in the split so I could do a "hot swap" with the pipes for track days. Works great and actually sounds pretty darn good. Plus afterwards, I can put my stock cans back on. The biggest advantage is the weight savings.
