Default Just hit VTEC in 6th for the first time

Was pretty much empty on the 405 at 3am on the way back home tonight so I decided to let the car breathe a little. This was my first time going way over the speed limit in this car (got her in January) and it was amazing. On the straightaway that ends at the Howard Hughes Center I floored it in sixth and eventually got up to around 125 and began to feel VTEC start to pull before I decided to let off and coast back down to 80 (and what a long coast it was!). The car handled superbly, even at 125 I felt in total control. There was hardly any shakiness, the steering wheel was tight, and I felt like the car belonged up there. Going 80 after that felt like I was driving in quicksand. I've gotten the old XC90 up around there before and even that thing, being built like a tank, didn't feel as in control as the S. Was an amazing experience.

How fast have you gotten your S' and how was it?

Nice isn't it? I had mine a few months before I did the same on an empty turnpike in OK. I lifted at 152. I couldn't believe how loud the wind noise was. That, and the high beams start to look like they end about 20 ft in front of the car at that speed.

Damn pull that off in CA it's a one way ticket to jail! I've raced this turbo Integra up to 130 and still managed to win; oh and I have a heavy ass jack and some tooks in the trunk as well!

Watch out for the Bacon in CA, they aren't joking around.

That being said, congrats on your experience. S2K's are truly a great car, and do well at high speed. Enjoy it safely, and preferably on a track next time

TOTALLY AGREE!

I regularly cruise at 120mph, and every now and then when traffic is light early in the morning, I have gotten her to hold easy at 140mph. Top speed has been about 152mph, but on a good downhill and a cool March morning. Still NA for now, and I am waiting to see what the SC will get me on a daily basis.

Of course, living in Germany with an autobahn 2 minutes from my door makes it LEGAL to drive these speeds, but to this day it never gets old. I agree she belongs at those speeds, and it is proven each day I take her to work. Looking forward to getting her back on the road with her new motor - one of the downsides to driving so fast is increasing the chance of engine failure, as mine did. =(

Still, unlimited speed is definitely one of the reasons I love living here!

I wish I could drive mine on the autobahn. I think I-40 should be like that, it goes from the west coast to the east coast and is 2 minutes from me

145 on the Autobahn for me. I too was surprised how much wind noise there was!

I had mine up to 95 recently (top up) and it was surprisingly stable.

I-40 should NOT be like the autobhan. the way people drive on I-40 in my area is just down right stupid. with no speed limit, it would be pure insanity.

Either you've got some decent mods, or that was one slow-ass turbo integra!

My old turbo 'teg would walk away from most if not all n/a s2k's on this board - except if there was launching involved (it had some traction issues).

The only reason you would have beat me in that thing at 130 is because I would have run out of gear, haha!

And that is all with a stock motor, 12lbs of boost. Oh the memories!
