I see a lot of people say the Mugen exhaust has no drone, however I run the Mugen 2.2 header and ap2 exhaust and it drones BAD. Maybe it has something to do with the header. Drives great though. Just something you might experience if you get the Mugen 2.2 header.

Dang it, I have the headers on order. Right now there is no drone on the car......

How does the droning compare to?

I don't really know, I've never rode in another s2000 with an aftermarket exhaust/header. I guess I would say the drone doesn't exist at idle and goes away from around 4500 rpm to redline, but I really hear it below 4500, especially when engine braking. I think it's expected though. Don't get me wrong, it sounds good, especially in the high rpms - there's like this sub note you start to hear during vtec, but my ears are definitely ringing after driving around the city. I think a hardtop might quiet it a little.

get a test pipe and say bye bye to droning. i don't know why. on most cars the test pipe adds drone. on S2K's it seems to eliminate the drone.

well mugen was started by sochiro Honda's son and is very closely tied to honda. if you've ever noticed most mugen parts have factory honda style part #'s. they are one and the same.
true. but Mugen today is no longer that Mugen... Mugen is owned by M-Tec now after a big legal scandal, IIRC something regarding money laundering.

i dont know about the drone, ive had the exhaust for almost a year and i have never heard any drone. i have the exhaust and ricks header with it, so im pretty similar in setup to you niro. if anything there is a slight deeping of the tone right above idle to ~2300rpm or so, but nothing like any other exhaust ive heard...how old is your exhaust?

It has about 1000 miles on it. Maybe it needs some more break-in time.

Sounds like you can't go wrong with either...... Whats the lowest price people have gotten on the mugen? Also, is there a comparo out there on the HKS vs the Mugen.

Same set-up.

Same results.

I love mine.
