Post Just got an 05 s2000! I'm speechless!

Just wanted to say hello to everyone! I bought an 05 rio yellow s2000 exactly a month ago. It now has almost 900 miles on it. Is everyone here addicted to that vtec as much as I am? I end up late everywhere because I'm constantly taking detours to wring it out some more. Living in Houston, I have the luxury of never having to put the top up!

My previous car was a nissan 240sx (still have it as a daily driver), so this car seems ungodly fast, and from what I've read, it will progressively get faster (?). I do have one question. Does anyone have any complaints about the tires (potenza RE050's). When shifting into second gear during wide open throttle, I can feel the wheels spinning but I hear no sound (chirping). I've had experience with very old tires not making any noise, but these are new. Anyone have a similar experience?

Not even 1000 miles on it and I'm already looking at an aftermarket intake. I like the K&N FIPK, so far. The thought of CAI is a bit scary for me.

Thanks in advance for any advice. You guys are so informative!!

Dimitri

must be your first honda car with VTEC huh?

Try getting use to the car first because if you search the forum, there are a lot of horror stories of S2Ks spinning out and what now do to various reasons. Becareful.

the MY05 S2K's suspension and tires are a lot more forgiving compared the the MY01-03 AP1s, but always keep your guard up whenever you're out streching her legs.

yes i would agree. I hit redline for the first time and the back end just started swinging left to right. I know some fast cars do that when they take off but, why did this happen? I don't remember the road being wet. maybe a little if any. But definitly upgrade suspension. that's my first move.

why did this happen?
Because you don't know how to drive. Don't kill anyone while learning please.

^ Yep...just a matter of getting used to the car. Have fun but be careful until you are.

Welcome to the club. You'll find good advise here on driving your stook and on making modifications.

Take it easy until you get used to the car. Most of the time she'll tell you when you are pushing her too hard, and should calm down a bit. If you can, go to a high performance driving class.

BTW, she loves cold weather and dry roads.
