Default Just bought dream car... now its missing

9 days ago i won a 2002 sebring silver S2k on eBay (from a car dealer) for only $23K... excellent condition with only 12k miles. this car has been the object of my obsessions for the last couple years, and i finally got it!

this morning i noticed it missing from my community garage, with 2 little plastice pieces (i guess to hold the door panel) in my parking spot. as i walked around, i noticed that another S was missing from my garage. i dont know the owner, but the car is ALWAYS there. i saw the front panel of the fuse box (?) sitting where it was usually parked.

i had the car for 1 week.

they are looking for it, but my hopes are VERY low. 4 years ago, my integra gsr was stolen from the city (san francisco), and found 2 days later stripped to the ground.

i didnt get lojack for the S.

all i can think of is what to i do if it doesnt return? i am trying to sell my 01 miata, and am leaning toward just keeping it so i dont have to worry about this sh1t. even if i got an rsx, it could easily happen again.

unbelievable.

wtf do i do?

yeah, its a community garage that has street access, so really no added security from street parking other than protection from the rain

there are about 40 cars parked in our garage (all condo owners)

i called everyone... now its time to wait and see...

Sorry to hear that. While I have never had a car stolen, I did have the new wheels and tires stolen off of my '95 Integra GSR. It was a shock to walk out of my condo and see my car up on blocks but I know that is not nearly as bad as your car not being there at all.

It is a real shame when you can't own a car that you enjoy because you are afraid of having it stolen.

Wow, I'm very sorry to hear about your car. Was it parked in a position where it would be easy to remove with a tow truck? I'm always curious to understand how and why a thief would steal an S2000. I thought they were not as easy or profitable to steal as other mass market cars.

Maybe they chose your parking garage specifically because they developed a technique for defeating the immobilizer and they knew they could get two S2000s at the same time.

wow, im sorry to hear about that that sucks, so a thief can easily see the cars from the street I too had a acura integra gsr, and that was stolen from me! i know now that the civic/integra are amongst the most stolen cars out there, but ive never heard of a S2K getting stolen. How can they take the car when its has an immobilizer geeze, these thiefs think of how to overcome everything. Just goes to show you, if a thief really wants something he will stop at nothing to get it. Put like another member said, maybe someone drove up with a tow-truck to get it. I know members on here have had thier seats stolen etc and im sure they will try to sell the parts so check ebay for any deadbeats trying to sell your cars parts!

not sure about a tow truck... our garage has about 9 feet of clearance (guess), so im not sure if one would fit.

both cars were parked normally, meaning not backed into place.

whats odd is that the other car (still not POSITIVE it was stolen too, but it appears so) had been parked here for over a year... no problems with theft as far as i know.

i have inurance, and being that i got it at a great price, i shouldnt take a hit (i lost $1k on the integra in '00)

the real question is, do i get another S? this is not fun, and i dont wanna go through it a third time. i guess i have to give up on the 9k dream... i wonder how theft is on the rx8...
