I also came from a Mustang (can you tell?)
First mod... definately stereo (at least IMO) it's the only real downfall on the car, luckily for you the 03 at least added the tweeters. Check out the Electronics forum for alot of help on stereo equip and some cool custom goodies for the S.

It's a fair deal. I think most owners really treat their car well, and if your car looks that good, hopefully yours was taken care of. Stereo, yes, a must! All I did was get a decent Alpine deck and good speakers. Check out Modifry's DCI so you can use the dash controls . Electronics Forum is loaded with information. Enjoy!!

So guys,
for the S2000, what is the obligatory first mod everyone does?

To be honest I HATE that question.
There is no obligatory mod.
I would recommend you drive your new car and enjoy it for a little while. If you notice something you would like to improve (and truly improve...not just build a signature line...), only THEN consider making an improvement where you need one.
Otherwise you are just exposing some kind of Barbie dress-up fantasy-fetish you had as a little boy/girl. ("Hmmm...I wonder how she would look in the black skirt and red boots????)
Let me repeat: There is no obligatory mod PERIOD.
If you need to know how to spend your money on your S, I recommend the following:
-High performance driving course and track events
-New tires
-Fuel
-Flowers for your girlfriend/wife so she doesn't resent all your fun track days (or just stop by the cemetary on the way home and pick some up for free...)

If you got what you wanted at a price you thought was fair, you did ok.
Some people may pay less, but I think a lot of that has to do with the location and what's available in a given area. In my case, I paid a little more than I probably should have, but I found exactly what I wanted and I found it locally.

In a trade-in scenario, what you paid for the new car is pretty irrelevant. So is what you owe on the Mustang.
The offer for the trade is often where the dealer will make things work in their favor. If you want to give me every single detail about your Mustang, I MIGHT be able to give you an opinion. Without knowing more about your trade its impossible to say (for anyone).

Sounds like you could've worked 'em a little harder, but you'll enjoy the car so much, you won't even care.

Welcome to the community. As for the price...seeing the low milage and good trade in the dealer gave you, I think you did fair overall. If you waited a little longer you may of have found a steal at a better price (Like I did / dealer was asking 24k, I talked them down to 19k and got 2,400 for my trade in, wanted 3 for the trade in but they wernt havin any---I have an 02 s2000 w/ 40k miles by the way) Anyway's go out there and enjoy your new baby. You bought it in just the right time...Take her out Topless.

As others have said, hard to know about the price, but NOVA is an expensive area, so paying a bit more isn't a surprise. Welcome and enjoy!!
