Default JDM MY2004 is AP1 or AP2?

Question:. Is the JDM 2004 S2000 an AP1 or an AP2?

I always thought 2004 / 2005 S2000s are simply USDM AP2s with 2.0L engine (F20c) -- but have all the AP2 stuff like revised suspension, subframe, transmission, etc. But I saw a few websites referring them to as AP1?

Just making sure I got my stuff right ... Thanks

So in 2004 and 2005, Honda JDM S2000s are just called AP1, but the have all the changes that USDM AP2s have except for the engine (and ECU) eh?

I guess Honda decided to relate the AP2 closer to the engine than the other goodies ...

so if for every minor change honda changed the chassis code it would be as follows:
00-01 = ap1
02-03 = ap2
04-05 = ap3
06+ = ap4

anyway in japan we call the 00-05 and ap1 its just separated by a sub number after so the real code goes like this:
00-01 = ap1(10)
02-03 = ap1(20)
04-05 = ap1(30)
06+ = ap2(00)

dont listen to jzz30. 04 is the first ap2. in japan tehy didnt adopt the f22 until a year or two later, so yes it is possible to have an ap2 with f20

i call the 06+ ap3 or ap2.5 for fun since there were a lot of changes between them and the 04-05, but they are technically still ap2's too
in japan thats how it is. if you dont want to listen to me then your just wrong.

lol.. no they are AP2 from 2004 and up.. it just that Japan AP2 is still a 2.0L until 2006. But it is AP2..
Each years goes by the car get revise suspension and stuff along the way that. Well it getting softer and more road friendly.

I try to find the video where they actually have Ap1 and AP2 2.0L race with each other, but I cant find it.. but there is a such thing as a 2.0L 9k AP2.

Well just know the front bumper is different from AP1..

The image below is supposed to be the VIN of an MY06 EUDM S2000. If it's an AP2, why does it have an AP1 VIN?
Somebody is confused, and I think it's me.

i already said this befor. i think most people just use the term ap2 to describe the body style

ap1 and ap2 are chassis codes if your vin says ap1 then its ap1 if it says ap2 then its ap2 if you have a 00 with a vin that says ap2 (just for example) then you have a my00 ap2 and so on

So what you are saying then is that through MY06, the EUDM cars, which say they're an AP1, are actually AP1's, and hence AP1's did not go out of production after MY03? Why do some of the EUDM AP1's come with 17" wheels and AP2 tires?

What I'm really trying to figure out (because a guy with an EUDM MY06 AP1 wants to know) is how many of the AP2 chassis mods went into the AP1's that were sold in Europe after MY03? Do their '06 cars have the same chassis as my MY00 NADM car?

I too always thought that APx was the chassis code, and that F2xy was the engine code, so apparently EUDM cars were AP1's right through MY06. Since so many people are saying that all cars after MY03 are AP2's, it's hard to know what to believe, given what we see on the MY06 Eurospec S2000 (ie: AP1).

I guess the rest of the world got to keep the roll understeer along with the higher redline for the first few years of AP2 sales here in the USA.

Everyone sounds so certain, and I was certain too, until I saw that EUDM VIN.
Clearly, that's an MY06 AP1.

Is it safe to tell people in Europe that they can look at their VIN, and if it says AP1 like the one in the picture above, then they have the old AP1 chassis, no matter what MY car they own? I really don't want to be misadvising people.
