Almost any engine built to tight tolerances will develop more HP as it wears in a bit. It takes some time to "loosen up" a bit and looser is easier to spin.

I believe this is why you see so much discrepency with the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times in the magazines. Besides driver differences and actual differences between any number of cars, tracks, days, etc..., you have differences in performance depending on how many miles are on the example and how it was run in.

I also truly believe that is why you need to take many "performance gains" that are performed over time and not dynoed back to back before and after with a large grain of salt. I feel that if you dynoed a totally stock car at 1000 miles and then at 5000 miles later you will see a significant increase in HP. Seems to me that this increase gets lumped in together when manufacturers tout their performance gains "over stock".

Shad at Comptech also states that their S2K gained ~10hp at the wheels from brand new to 6k miles.

Well... on the way to S2k days, i raced Eliot from a roll 2 times and gained nothing on his 2000 mile 2001 version although my car had 16k+ at the time. -plus he had a passenger and lots of crap in his trunk - but the crap in the trunk, had it been able to see (luggage cannot see)would have noticed that the trunk release was glowing

I don't think the car is getting any faster.???

It just feels it to me for sure. And the VTEC step seems more pronounced, more like my ITR's.
The changeover when at 600 miles was more subtle.

Either it's getting faster or I was not paying attention when I first drove it fast
