Default Intakes and Strut Bars and Engine Dampers

hey guys, new to the s2k world. bought a used one last august and never really did anything to it, it had the comptech ice box and comptech strut bar on it along with various spoon mods. i added a skunk2 exhaust to it bc i wanted something not a lot of other people had and it does sound really awesome. the whole point of posting is i was interested in the spoon engine damper, but everywhere i read says it doesnt fit with 95% of strut bars. just wondering if anyone has this mod with a comptech strut bar and comptech ice box. thanks guys

I have the ice box, and I know that any strut brace that will fit with it has to be higher up than a normal one. It should fit but I'm not completely sure.

The ETD will work if you get puddymod's ETD mount ($80?). Contact the Op on this thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.ph...&f=54&t=457207. It won't interfere with the strut bar's holding position.

For what it's worth, I don't have the puddymod, wish I did, but my damage has already been done, and a T1R 4-point strut bar mounted on to of my spoon etd. It does fit, but I had to modify the mount slightly to get the hood to shut.

torque dampeners are RICE!!!

They really don't serve much of a purpose. If you even think you feel a difference then your motor mount should be checked!

There are many respected tuners on this forum who would beg to differ.

Well I am sorry if I am mistaken, but I am going off the fact that I have never seen an ETD on a real race S2000. I only see them on show cars and rice boy's on the streets. I have even asked draggers, drifters, and road racers if they felt it was needed and they almost always give me the same replies:

It does not stop the movement, but rather slightly dampen the vibration of the motor. Maybe good for some cars, but not needed on the S.

Just adds more weight that does not make more power or stiffen the chassis.

Nobody I have talked to could see a advantage to one of these that a set of stiffer motor mounts could not cure.

In most cases you need to replace or drill a large hole through the heat sheild that is place there for a reason. Now you are allowing more heat to penetrate to the battery and relays!

If there are any REAL benefits to an ETD then please educate me and maybe I too will pick one up.

Thanks again! (I'm not trying to bash or argue, only pointing out what I have learned)

Go w/ my setup:

-- K&N FIPK Intake
-- Spoon ETD
-- Spoon Strutbar (will to bend the intake box a little to make the bar fit)

if you don't feel like doing any modification w/the intake you can go w/ another intake such as the AEM, Comptech, or ARC

the only problem is that i think the comptech strut bar is used bc its the only one that clears the comptech ice box, but i dont know for sure.
