Every insurance company is different. I work for Progressive Insurance and we only cover up to $1000 in custom parts and equipment. Anymore than that and you need to tell us about it and we charge you more for it.

Ummm RyanS2000 just told you it varies and even gives a specific example of an occurrence where it does raise the rates.

The answer to your question is YES. Any aftermarket modifications which will enhance the vehicle to be subject to vandalism, theft or burglary will increase your premiums if you want the items to be covered. ie supercharger, stereo, wheels etc...

If you don't report them....it's your loss if the car is stolen or destroyed...
