I'm with Allstate (been with them for 6 months), 23 years old with a clean record. I pay $575/6 months for the S2k, with $250 collision and $0 comprehensive, and just basic coverage on my 95 Ford Probe GT. I think its very fair, especially being a fairly recent customer and being under 25 with a sports car.

your coverage is way better than mine. how old are you if you dont mind me asking? maybe i should switch to your insurance company.
40yr old geezer.

I have 300/300/50 coverage (to support my umbrella policy), but statewise they only require 25/50/10.

I reckon I'd be paying a bit less than 400/6mos if I dropped the coverage down to the state requirements.

I have the umbrella since I have a CCP.

Even when legally justified, when you injure/kill someone, a common result is family members coming after your assets in a civil suit.

When did being 40 become geezer territory. I am 23, 2 accidents that weren't my fault, also I have a careless/reckless driving ticket from running a yellow light. I pay $1300 per year with full coverage in Jersey which is notoriosly bad for insurance. I would shop around. Try your local forum.

My 26 year old live in girlfriend is also fully covered under the policy as an additional driver. So the price represents two folks having the coverage.

Also, are you running 300/300/50?

I can assure you I have shopped around quite a bit...got an unsolicited quote from State Farm yesterday in fact that was about 160 per year higher (without Mech Breakdown).

I have found a savings of about 35 per year on the policy (including my girlfriend), but the other company does not offer mechanical breakdown coverage like Geico.

From the Geico site:

"But what happens when your air conditioning dies or your automatic windows won't close, just after your car is out of warranty?

So after calling and getting 2 higher quotes I have decided that I had better brush up my credit score a little so I can get a personal loan instead of a car loan.

The way I look at it: I can buy another s2000 plus pay my liablilty insurance for the amount I would pay for full coverage.
I'd rather have a spare s2k than a "wreck one get one free certificate".
My advice is to spend some time on the forums learning how not to spin out and wreck in snow/rain/wet leaves/bald tires... or else you'll have to buy that second S2000 a lot sooner than you'd like.

Thanks for the advice, but I drive sideways more than straight.
I've had very few non RWD cars.
I have driven a 240sx, 5.0, turbo miata, 300zx all through winter without a wreck.

I'm not som nOOb getting on a 1000cc bike for the first time and popping the clutch.

I've driven faster cars. But the s2000 has been #1 on my list for years.

Edit: I'm sorry if I sound like a dick. I definitely don't know it all I admit that... But I do know how to keep it under control.

Ummmm..... if you still live with your parents, than you can put your s2k under your parents name. This makes you liable for cheaper insurance.
