Smile INSURANCE MORE SPECIFIC.......

[B] To all,

Check your current auto insurance company to see if they will insure your car (not only the actual new wheels) having wheel modification. Again, I was informed by my current carrier (American Express) they will not offer me a POLICY for the CAR.
The reason given was, 18" wheels is a performance modification as compared to stock 16".
A policy will not be given!

Good luck.

As stated by another poster and confirmed by me, State Farm along with Pemco will insure car with different size wheels as long as it is street legal. Not all companies share the same opinion...........

Are they saying that will not insure your custom wheels or your car? I've never heard of a company doing this before.

They are saying they won't insure the car itself having different size wheels other than stock. Isurance company claims performance is compromised and some will not even offer a auto policy. Crazy as it sounds, it's true!
I was surprised to say the least. I have made arrangements for a new insurance carrier that will give me a policy however, it had to approved by underwriter.
Please check.
