Insurance claim repair work?
Hi!
Regarding my rear-end accident...
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...8836#post988836
Now that I have comfirmation that their insurance is going to take care of the damages. I can take it to any body shop to have it repaired.
My question is, can I get aftermarket stuff installed under insurance?
I know most places will only take it back to stock, but say if I wanted to get an aftermarket exhaust instead of getting the original exhaust installed? How do I go about getting it done through insurance?
I've read and heard several people replacing things because of accidents and stuff. Getting new aftermarket spoilers, bumpers, suspension, exhausts, etc.
How do you go about doing it?
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind getting it repaired back the way it was, but it would be nice if I can get an new aftermarket exhaust out of it or something. Maybe different rear spoiler?
Any opinions?
TIA!

If the exhaust is less than the quoted price on the work order for the OEM replacement, the body shop will usually do it in a heartbeat, if they keep the difference.
If the difference works not in their favor, you may have to cough up the difference, or they may charge the "unseen" damage back to the insurance provider that is paying .
Sometimes the insurance company, if notified, will not allow anything but genuine OEM replacement. They fear that anything non-OEM may reduce the value of the car.
