I'm 21 and so far I pay around 900 from AAA. Thanks for the advice, but it stilldoesn'ty clarify much. Sports car or not a ride is a ride. I understand that usually a sports car is not a usual daily ride, but I'm just wondering, will the insurance be cheaper if I tell them its only for special occasions(weddings, funerals, nephews graduation, etc.)

Why don't you ask you agent/insurance company. They are the only one who can give you a definitive answer. We could tell you "sure it'll be cheaper", but that's not going to help you much when your agent tells you it doesn't make any difference.

BTW, if you do tell them that and end up using it as a daily driver you best be careful. Insurance companies will look for any reason to deny coverage, and lying to them is right at the top of that list.

IMO it makes sense that the S2000 costs more to insure than an Odyessy. It's a higher risk vehicle and probably has a higher book value (although I don't know what an Odyessy costs).

Pyro, $900 every 6 months sounds about right for AAA if you're 21 years old... I picked up my '02 S2000 when I was 23, and at the time, was paying just under $750 every 6 months through Mercury for 50/100/50 coverage and $500 collision deductible. The S2000 was the only car on my policy.

After having racked up 9 years of driving experience at the age of 25, I added another car (cheap family sedan), and my insurance for both cars, with 100/300/100 coverage, is still about $750 (maybe a tiny bit more). The S2000 is about $600 of that.

I do think designating the S2000 as a weekend/pleasure car will lower your premium. But the question is how much? No one can really say. I wouldn't make the stated annual mileage too far off from what it really will be. It's better to pay a little bit extra and have the peace of mind of knowing that any claims will be as smooth as possible.

If you want to save money, I'd honestly look at changing insurance providers before fudging annual mileage figures. When I was looking for providers, AAA was only around average in terms of rates.

P.S.
I daily drive my S2000 and put about 25k miles on it every year, so that's what the figures above reflect. I did try getting quotes with different annual mileage, and in my case, the difference in premium was very small.

Insurance is a scam. When I first got my 02 Civic Si my coverage was $80 a month. After 6 months it jumped to $110 because they claimed it was reclassified as a "High Theft Vehicle." Got my 04 and my insurance went DOWN to $85. 6 months later and they are jacking my rates up to $100 again. Now that 00's can be had for low twenties, younger kids are getting them and it raises everyone's rates. Or at least that's what they tell me while asking me to bend over

Hey, thanks for the info. I'll talk to my insurance agency tomorrow. I'm not going to use my S2k for a daily thing. The S2k was basically a car for me. The Odyssey was considered a family car, but I wanted a car for myself, so thats why I got the Honda S2k. Thanks for all the advice. really helped.
