Looks great!. I personally use GPS both in car(occasionally) and on my boat (all the time). Can there get to be TOO much stuff in the stook cockpit?

Hey I was just joking but I didn't describe him personally as goofy, I said he was goofy looking!

IMO there is nothing wrong with looking goofy...

I am also considering a portable GPS solution for my S2K. I am however looking to go in a different direction and would like the opnions of others. The Street Pilot III can be purchased and delivered to my door for around $800.

I think the Street Pilot III is the best GPS bang for the buck on the planet. I however never settle for the norm

I was thinking about going with a Compaq IPAQ with a TeleType GPS solution. The total would be around $800 but I would have an IPAQ also ) You can go to http://www.teletype.com for information on thier products or http://www.mobileplanet.com for better pricing. To get the lowest prices for the IPAQ you can try http://www.pricewatch.com and select handhelds.

Sunchild which ones have you tried?

I have tried SolusPro and SA7 for the Palm VII and I agree that it is a joke. I also have Pocket Streets 2002 which worked great with my IBM Z50. Wonderfull color maps and very detailed BUT it only updates GPS info every 15 seconds!!!! What a waste! At 70mph 15 seconds is an eternity. I actually have seen teletype installed on an Ipaq 3650 and it was sweet. Address to Address routing and voice commands also! I hope to play with it some more before I plop down $800. I have also played with the Streetpilot III and it was totally amazing. I then read the review for it at http://joe.mehaffey.com/ and realized I wasn't the only one.

Thanks

Pretty nice set-up! I think I need one...."Honey where have you been?...ohh it was terrible, I got lost and ended up driving around for hours." ... or maybe not.

Hey Reedz, How are you attaching your mount to the car? It looks like a RAM mount, but I can't tell how it's attached to the console.

I used part number 9 from this web site:

http://www.cycoactive.com/gps/gallery/parts.html

I then unscrewed the upper left mounting point for the netting. I used a dremel-like tool to take off about 5 mm from the bottom of the plastic mounting circle, then placed part number 9 between the the mounting point and the body and screwed everything back in. You will also most likely need part #5, as the shorter one which comes with the stock RAM kit is too short for this particular install.
