Default Initial break-in valve cover seepage MY04?

I noticed some very minimal "residue" around the edge of the valve cover, just above the header. The only reason I could see it was because of a small amount of road grime was attached to it, and for the most part it went along about 50%edge here and there, but not all of it. I have just over 3k on the car.

I don't believe this is oil seepage, but wonder if it is just excess "hondabond" from the factory. Does this sounds reasonable - any ideas? Thanks!

"does this sounds reasonable"? that part sounds bad

I recommend that you clean the area in question, drive some more in the hot weather, and see if your problem re-occurs.

As long as it does not look "wet", a little oil weeping would not bother me, but it is your car, your call. I could not detect any weeping on mine, but I also did not use a microscope to inspect.

If you actually see oily, wet residue, then that is for sure a leak, and should be covered and corrected under warranty. They "all" do NOT do that.

The fact that it only occurs along part of the length of the VC could be a bad sealing, or just as you said - leftover from the mfg process.

I'll second Road Rage on that...my 2004 with 1600 miles has no residue leaking at all around the valve cover! (Clean it, drive it, and check it again!)

Thanks for the info guys, I wiped it off a few days ago and will check it every so often.

I hate waiting, but am still hoping it was just excess hondabond (if that is correct) from the factory. I really don't relish bringing it in for this either (or really bringing it in for anything...its my baby)!

I had a very very minor leak from the valve cover when my car was new. Honda took care of it.
