Indianapolis
I'm considering a trip to Indy for the Formula 1 race at the end of September. I've never been before. Does anyone have any advice about what stands there give the best views for the road course?

I went to the inaugural F-1 race back in 2000 and sat right across the yard of bricks. There are Jumbo-Trons viewable from many angles. I walked around during practice and qualifying and liked viewing at the last turn (Indy turn one), F-1 turn one, and the last turn/transition onto the oval.
I'm flying in for this years race for sure. Going to buy my tickets there. BTW, This is a Great International EVENT and the race crowd is very different than Indy 500 crowd and of course quite different than the Nascrap Brickyard 400 crowd.

Hey I went in 2001 and ElTianti is right on the money . Stand J you can see them coming down the straight for the start and also the finish plus you can see the cars go thru the first five corners !
If you get there a couple of days early go to the Indianapolis Mall and walk around because you never know who you gonna run into !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I was there I saw Michael Schumacher , Jean Todt , and Mika Hakkinen . BTW got Mikas autograph!
Your not gonna believe the sounds a F1 engine makes .

I went to the Indy 500 the lat 2 years with seats right on the finish line. I was bored stiff. The crowd there is terrible and Indianapolis is a sh@#thole!
Then I was luck enough to go to the Canadian Grand Prix with reserved gold seats opposite the McLaren pit garages. A much more sophisticated and cosmopolitan crowds. You can tell because the women are much nicer. But since there is almost no passing in F1, it was incredibly boring. Montreal is nice, I have re-visited it since the F1 race.
My thoughts, forget it, you'll enjoy it more watching it on Speedvision, or highlights from an F1 Decade.
