Hey, Anyone check out the 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX article in the July 2001 issue of Motor Trend. They tout the engine's specific output of 114hp/liter as being bettered ONLY by the Porsche 911 Turbo's 115hp/liter. WTF! No mention of the S2K's 120hp/liter? 114hp/liter isn't very impressive considering that the engine is turbo charged. I emailed by displeasure to the MT Mag. Editor.

I think we went through this before. Several people think there was no mention of the S2K because it is NA and not turbo. They probably wanted to compare WRX wih other turbo cars.

 

Probably right, but it makes the WRX engine seem more impressive than it really is. I think this is a slight misrepresentation on MT's part. If they want to do an apples to apples comparison they should use an SC'd S2K @ 160hp/liter. I expect better journalism from a magazine like Motor Trend.

This is motortrend we are talking about, where only HP is al they care about, and nothing else matters. Why would you expect unbiased reporting from them?
