True, but they are softer than the 00-01 cars.

In fact the general trend has been to dumb down the car. Softer, a bit heavier and now with traction control. By answering the needs of poor American drivers and their complaints Honda is killing the car.

Ive never driven an 02-03, but I know that my 01 is quite different than the 05 I drove. I walked out of the dealer with my car, I did not like the 05 that much. I'm keeping my car. By the way, I would like to change the soft top for one with the rear glass window. I got used to the clutch buzz. But the rear plastic window kills the looks of the car.

Generally speaking, that's !

Everyone always harps on the '04 and later models having a softer suspension. None of you guys ever mention the fact that the "front" suspension was stiffened up, not to mention the other mods that were made to the car! They made the car "less" likely to swap ends at the drop of a hat which makes it a more "competent" vehicle when pushed hard, not a "dumber" one. It's also getting a little old that Americans are always pointed at in these conversations. There may be some merit to that as far as the 2.2 engine is concerned since North America is the only part of the world that got it but I remind you all that the rest of the world got the same suspension changes as we did. If all those so called "expert drivers" (in their own minds, maybe!), hadn't been wrapping themselves around so many phone poles through the years, maybe Honda wouldn't have felt the need to make the suspension changes they did.

The one point where I can understand the "dumbing down" mentality is the addition of the electronic stabilization. The traction control isn't quite as big a deal to me depending on how much it intrudes on the routine operation of the car. If it helps you get going in marginal traction conditions then it is probably darn worth the trouble at that time. As for the electronic stabilization, again, it'll be a matter of how much it intrudes on the driving experience. I've read too many articles on cars that had this technology where the testers complained that it kicked in too aggressively, even when it's supposedly turned off. We'll have to wait and see how Honda set this one up.

JMO!

Steve R.

Well, been looking to purchase s2k for a while and now
I have test drove both AP1 and AP2, and the AP2 felt bit
more soft and not as exciting as the AP1 to me...I'm not
sure of what to choose...I like the looks of the AP2 better
but I think I like the driving feel of the AP1. I can't decide...
Put the spring spacers back in the AP2.

I now have 10K miles on my 04 after putting 60K miles on my 00, I really like the suspension of my 04 much better but I do miss the extra 700 RPM of my 00. It's a matter of personal preference.

I like Advil.

[QUOTE=emperoryder,Oct 1 2005, 06:27 AM] All I wanted to know was just to see if I wasn't alone and people that drove both, pretty much felt the same.

There's been a lot of these lately. ........................ A REAL LOT!

Here, we have another individual who wants a bunch of strangers on the internet to decide for him how to spend tens of thousands of dollars. Next, he'll be asking what color to buy from those same strangers. This is the type of person who probably can't decide what color of socks to wear each day unless his mother lays them out on his bed for him. Who's the "fuken jack ass" now?

I have a 2001 and I like it but AP2 is just so much more....whats the word......new lol. I seriously like the AP2 a lot better and you can make it redline at the same rpm with some tweaks. I just really dislike the AP2 gauge cluster but other than that its gotta be AP2
