Default importing an s2k

Hey....I'm new to the board. Don't got a s2k yet.....but i'm looking around. I live in Ontario Canada and I was told that importing an american s2k is the way to go. Just want to know if anyone has done this and if they can give me some info or tips on it.

Cheers

Pardon my ignorance...(new to the S2K world), but what is a V-type? I would assume a JDM model of some sort ...

Probably means the VGS option in Japan. I think it stands for Variable Geared Steering. You get a cool squared-off steering wheel with it. See the For Sale forums, where there's one for sale (steering wheel only) for $999 at the moment.

FYI, you cannot import a JDM S2000 unless you have more money than good sense. I looked into this a few years ago. Forgetting the US Customs charges, the NHTSA wants to crash test the thing (JDM models are not certified in the US), EPA wants you to have an OBDII engine computer (JDM models don't), and when all is said and done don't even think about getting service from an American Honda dealer...

I believe it's possible to get a show-car permit to import a JDM car, but it's not streetable.

So, you ain't getting a VGS (type V) model in the US. Canada... I don't know.

I'm a Canadian in the US right now and I bought a MY02 to bring back in a couple of weeks.. I'll post up my experiences. WAY cheaper to buy from the USA!

Twistybits is another Canadian member who imported a car from here..
