Trendy starts at the beginning of the cycle, popularity follows in the middle.

Well said...
...although, it is a matter of personal taste so who's to say it'll ever go out of style for that individual. Not too fond of the green but the Imola Orange is stunning from the pictures I've seen.

Of course. We always speak from the point of view of our own eyes and our own perceptions. Our perceptions, however, are influenced by the perceptions of the general public.
That is why, for example, a style like bell bottoms looks silly to the individual and to society in general at the same time. This is also true of colors. Colors are, afterall, nothing more then another part of fashion.
That is why when a car color such as purple looks good to the individual, it tends to look good to the general public as well. The reverse is also true. When the general public grows tired of purple, it begins to look dated to the individual as well.
Imola Orange is at the beginning of its cycle. It looks good to me and it is beginning to look good to the general public. I love it today. Most likely, my eyes will tire of it at the same time that the public in general tires of it. At that point my perception and everyone elses will be the same, and the car (like the bell bottoms in my example) will look dated.
This tends not to happen with the colors that are accepted as "classic". Black, white, silver, grey, sometimes red and sometimes green and blue, tend never to be as hot as the other colors, but also tend never to look dated.

That Imola is WOW! You'll put an eye out with that thing!
I'd really like to see Monte Carlo blue in the US... My Suzuka is still my favorite color, but dark blue is timeless (in the words of this thread).
Rock on!

holy $hit... am I gay? I love the IOP. Better break the news to the missus... :-)
Seriously though... my thought process was nearly the same as ralpers with the exception of personality type... hence the Sebring. I could see having a fling with Spa but for a long term relationship.. Sebring, please.
