[QUOTE=C4SxM5,Apr 26 2006, 11:01 AM] um, it isn't really effective if the thieve knows what he is doing. i actually buy several theft recovery s2000s from insurance companies and rebuild them and can tell you from personal experience that there is a way to bypass the immobolizer key.

Sorry if I sound ignorant, but what exactly does the system do?
There is a chip in your key that is coded to the immobilizer system in your car (which involves MORE than just the ECU by the way). If the immobilizer does not detect that coded chip key when the car is started, then it won't start the car.

[QUOTE=Wisconsin S2k,Apr 26 2006, 10:57 AM] you didn't indicate in your theft cases that they were or weren't flatbedded/towed when they were stolen.

The seats are ridiculously expensive to replace.
Send PM to this user for information on getting locks for the seats:

Thanks man. I had already contacted him about it like a week ago and he said he has them on back order and the waiting process is about 2 weeks. Thanks though.

So from the replies I've gotten so far it seems that it is effective to the average joe-shmoe thief? But if this thief is experienced, it is possible to overcome the obstacle.

This kind of makes me feel a little more relaxed... lol.

I did a search for directions on how to install the fuel-cutoff switch but came up empty handed. Is there anyone with a quick reference to it that wouldn't mind posting the link?

Thanks,
Andre

the majority of them had the ignition broken to release the steering lock and i can tell you that i've personally seen people start vehicles with an immobolizer security key less than 2 minutes its not hard to bypass the immobolizer as you probably already know and its apparant that the immobolizer isn't too "preventive" from the #'s of theft recoveries in the auctions.
sure you have. try it. it won't work. sorry, but you can't circumvent the immobilizer system in 2 minutes. i know how to circumvent it, and you obviously do not. have much experience with type II immobilizer systems? my guess is you don't.

Unfortunately it can be found on the web - I saw the instructions on another forum for how to start the car if you had a key without the right chip. It was a complicated series of instructions that IMO would take more than two minutes and was good for one start.
