You understand that at college, it probably won't take long for your top to get slashed, seats, steering wheel, and wheels all stolen. Might as well go with an AP2 with higher value, and a better chance at your insurance company not just totalling it out.

Screw it get the nicest car you can if your pop is willing to pay for it.

Since you're coming from a Prelude which is a pretty relaxed drive I think an AP2 would be perfect for you, especially since it looks fresher and drives smoother.
Get a 2005 S2000 and enjoy having an amazing convertible to drive while you're in College, you'll remember these years for the rest of your life.
Don't buy brand new, there are amazing deals on 2005-2006.
