I know that this probably varies from region and personal experience, but the cars down here that make me worry more than anything else are trucks, especially lifted trucks. Thats my Colorado/Texas/Arkansas experience. Sports cars tend to be aggressive, but fairly predictable and responsible.

Considering that the S doesn't drive itself...

Track time is always so overlooked -- even here. Everyone seems to be fixated on mods when it's not the car that is the limiting factor.

Learning to control your vehicle on a track (versus street) is beneficial regardless of your daily driving conditions. It's not a good idea to test the limits on the street.

Perfect examples of why anecdotal evidence has no statistical relevance. There are certainly plenty of poor S drivers no matter what you have or have not seen. Don't assume that what you've seen is an accurate and representational slice of the remainder of S drivers out there. Don't get caught up in your tunnel vision.

Poor driving is not limited to any specific model or color of car despite your beliefs based on broad, sweeping generalizations (again, based on extremely limited samples/anecdotal evidence).

... I'm aware. Hence, "I know that this probably varies from region and personal experience"

I think the fact is that some combination of driver and car makes the S more dangerous than most and our insurance reflects that.

That video was wild. I was expecting to see someone do a 3 or 4 lane change in one move to get their exit ramp, but nothing like that.

As far as the S2000 coming down in price that many inexperienced drivers can afford them, nearly all cars will fall into that category at some point. Before I bought the S, I looked at a 95 Corvette with a 6 speed manual (70,000 miles and in nice shape) for $12,000. C4 vettes, some C5's, 4th gen camaros, lots of mustangs, etc are well within the that price range. People in 1980 were probably talking about how easy it was for any kid to run out and buy a big block muscle car that they couldn't handle.

You can get in all sorts of trouble with any car. While certain cars, like ours, may promote high levels of confidence, it's still all about the driver. They are the ones at the controls.

I know I shouldn't say it... but that made me wanna go for a drive.
I must be immune. That wasn't that bad.( Except for half drifts at freeway speeds.)
I can only imagine how bad people thought we were when we'd be railing by on bikes splitting lanes at nine oh in a fifty. And yes it was idiotic.
I think a lot people cast this holier than thou crap on others. I hold back my judgment on stuff like this because I know I have been guilty of "acting out". What gets me is that it seems planned, and that to me worse than getting into a "spirited drive with friends" on a whim.
Is it unsafe? Yes. Should it be done some where else other than a public road? Yes.
But I think the majority of motor heads act out in some way at some time. Whether it be in burn outs, street racing, donuts, wheelies, or middle of the day freeway jollies. It doesn't make it ok, but I also don't think it's going to stop happening.

Left foot braking is a bad habit to get into especially if you rotate your driving between stick shifts and automatics. You just might catch yourself slamming on the clutch in a very dangerous situation if you allowed yourself to acquire this bad habit in an automtic. Don't do it.
