I need your opinion a new but damaged S2000
What's your opinion? Saturday I purchased a new 2007 S2000 from Superior Honda in Cincinnati. Clean carfax. The car was delivered new to Superior Honda. A total of 113 miles.
Today I washed it for the first time. I noticed a few odd ripples in the front bumber and hood. Upon closer examination I found crossmarkings under the clear coat on the hood which means the area has been sanded. Behind the front bumper I found tape and blue overspray. The bottom line - the hood and front bumper have been damaged and repainted. I'm very not happy. I was lied to and decieved.
I called the dealer and they don't know anything, but will forward my concerns to the manager tomorrow.
I paid for the S2000 by check, no trade in, no financing. Tomorrow Tuesday I will stop payment on the car. I don't want a wrecked car.
I may not be legal stopping payment on the car. What recourse if anything do I have? What do you think?
Tom

Stop payment immidiately...then they will be chasing you and more eager to work out something. Once they have the money it will be totally up to you chase them down. If you bought the car new, i would DEMAND a different car because non oem paint is never as good. The front bumper although it looks good now will never hold up as well when painted. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thanks for the comments. Your opinions help.
I was told by a collison repair shop not to patch repair the flexible bumpers because over time the constant flexing will cause the filler to crack or come apart.
Thanks,
Tom

You should have three business days to cancel the transaction. You probably don't even have to stop payment on your check if the dealer still has it.
the 3 days only applies to specific situations--i believe door-to door sales is one---purchasing a car is not one of them

you can always use the lemon law if you need to.
the lemon law applies to a repeated, unrepaired mechanical problem--not paint.
dealers do routinely repaint panels on cars that have been damaged during shipping or on their lots---it should be done well enough that it's not noticable---leaving masking tape on the car shows it was done by someone who didn't care..........
good luck tomorrow---you should be able to get more of a discount or it repainted to OEM standards
