Default i just cracked open my plastic rear window.

i retracted the roof and heard a pop and put it back up and it's cracked open like a spare tire went through it. i just bought it 2 days ago, at a honda dealership, certified vehicle. is this covered under warranty???

Did you read your owner's manual?!

Not supposed to open it when cold out.

Since you just bought it, they'll probably good faith it.

But be careful for next time.

And yes, there IS a secret apartment.

Generally, the top is not covered under warranty, but I would bring it to the attention of the dealership you purchased from immediately.

It was 35 degrees here this morning... took the 4x4 to work.

They'll probably fix it for you.

Wow, I was unaware that the plastic windows would crack...well unless in extreme conditions. Luckily I don't have to deal with it anyway.

Generally most states have laws to cover consumers in a case like this. You usually have three days to take the car back to the dealer and get your money back.

I would say that Honda doesn't have a choice of whether to fix this or not. They are most likely legally bound to repair the window.

I usually do not lower my top if it's below 40 degrees. I have a MY2001 with a plastic rear window and have had no problems with the weather. I drive it to work every day, even in the snow and ice with no problems.

Good luck,
Bob

i took it in saturday, but the warranty guys weren't in, so i have to go monday. some parts guy looked at it and said "i can see something impacted it right here" ...
lemme tell you. i got so pissed, he was implying that something hit it. i said "look i'm just telling you what happened, i opened it to show my coworkers, they all say what i did and what happened, i opened the top and it popped". then he has the nerve to say, they can take me to court. i nearly punched the guy. then the finance guy that sold it to me said don't mind him, they're programmed to say shit like that. if it weren't for him i would have jumped that guy i swear.

anyway, worse case scenario is insurance covers it. i hope to god they do. i just bought the car thursday and spent every penny on the down payment.
