I just bought an S2000 but what is this noise?
I just bought an MY00 S2000 with 59K miles and when I drive it..when I let go of the gas (gear in..not neutral) there is this sound coming from the engine..
Almost seems like it's coming out of the right AC vent of driver's side..(only when I let go of gas while in gear..)
It sounds as if something is kinda grinding...metals rubbing against each other with Vibration...the owner said it's supposed to be like that but to me... doesn't seem right..but I heard S2000s are noisy so could be just fine..
The sound is not from the exhaust! but from the engine..
is this normal??

Sounds like clutch buzz. It's very noticeable around 3-4k rpm usually? Sounds like a gear "whirring noise"?..
Very common, and it's simply noise - no harm is being done.

I'm not used to it so it's kinda annoying...but since it's not a problem I will try to get used to it..
I heard some dealers fix that as a Goodwill service? should I call honda dealers around to see if they will do it??
any suggestions?

Honda bought a bunch of defective clutch disks. While it's true that the noise doesn't do any harm, the car does sound like a piece of s&^t. Where's the pleasure in owning a car that causes everyone who rides in it to ask, "Is your car broken?" My Ford Festiva (built by Kia) never sounded like that in 150k+ miles. This noise is normal only if the car is a poorly-built piece of crap.
Good luck getting them to "goodwill repair" a 7 year old car.
My question is why you bought a car that sounds like s*&t? I bought mine with 3k miles on the odo; if I had heard the &^%*ing noise it made by 35k miles, there's no way I'd own an S2000.

I bought mine with the buzz, been riding the car hard the clutch is still somewhat grippy... but then I wonder what an upgrade would feel like...
Anyway, hopefully it's just that, I just got used to it.
