Default I fell in love with my S2000 all over again.

Hey all,

Figure I'd share this experience with some fellow S2K owners.

This past week, I was sent on a business trip to Buffalo to train some new agents. This was my first trip ever, and my first time with a rental car.

My rental was a Kia Soul. And it's the worst car I've ever driven in my short time as a driver. The steering was numb, the brakes and accelerator had no feeling or feedback, and the body roll was nuts even for an econobox. I was definitely not used to this.

I drove this car for an entire week, then got back into PDX a couple nights ago. I immediately took Laguna (My S) for a spin and....

WOW.

The response all around was instantaneous. Everything from the steering feedback, to the pedal feel and more. Taking her around some corners made me go ga-ga for this car all over again.

I know these cars aren't even remotely comparable, but it was enough to bring back the "just bought this car" feeling.

To all you guys out there getting bored with the S, try driving another car (if possible) for a week or so. Then go back. You'll fall in love.

Thanks for reading

I know what you mean but sometimes it goes the other way. I rent a fair amount of cars in Europe. Usually the Audi, BMW, or Mercedes sedans. I have been very impressed with the turbo-diesels. Jumping into my Ford (Yes it is 20 years old) or my 10 year old MDX is a bit of a shock when I get home. I will rent from Hertz and get a GM POS and swear one more time I will never by a GM car even if my life depended on it.

I induce delayed gratification by walking to work every day and only driving on the weekends. It's like Christmas every weekend.

I drove a KIA Soul when I was in Orlando on a trip, and I agree it is the worst vehicle ever produced. If Mickey Mouse ever came alive he would be driving a KIA Soul. I think if you put more than 50 lbs in the rear the wheels become fully cambered out and the rear drops an inch from the ground, lol.

My daily driver is a Ford Explorer. I put four passengers with enough luggage for a 2 week vacation, plus a full S2000 motor in the back and the truck was perfectly level with plenty of suspension travel. I love driving my S2000 and my daily driver for their intended purpose.

JFUSION, did you notice how the brakes had ZERO feedback until you nearly locked them up? I almost sent my corp laptop through the windshield!

You guys are lucky, I can't wait till I have enough room to buy a second car and make Laguna my special treat. I've never gotten tired of her, even after DD for a year, but going from the KIA to the S just felt so.... Special.

I have an 08 civic 5 speed as a daily...that feeling when i get back in the S is awesome...i like the smoothness of the civic but nothing beats the responsiveness and how engaging the S is..at least in my price range

I completely agree, I had to drive a golf for a week and coming back to the S made me love it again!
The pedal feel and steering was the most noticeable difference at first.

I DD a 2005 tundra so I only drive the s2k on weekends, sometimes I even miss a weekend so I go anywhere from 5-12 days without driving it, definitely makes me appreciated it more. on the other hand its nice not driving it in the rain or in bumper to bumper traffic or having to worry about it in tight parking lots.
