I have often posted criticisms of street racing here, and now I'm guilty of it, too. Today was a nice day for cruising sans top and I took advantage of it. I was sitting at a light on the highway when an early model Z-turbo pulled up beside me.

The guy was about my age (50s). When the light changed, he threw down the gauntlet and I couldn't resist. From a rolling start we both got on it. We stayed fairly even until his earlier shift point came up. I was still reving toward 9k when I heard his tires chirp from the shift. I shifted and kept pulling away. We both shut down at about 75 like a couple of wusses and met at the next light.

No more racing for either of us, but he had a comment. He asked," What did you pay for that thing, $25,000? You gotta expect to beat this old POS!"

I replied, "Yeah, but I've only got four cylinders!" His face contorted slightly like a baby passing gas as he slowly drove away with no intention of racing again.

By the way, I only say it was a turbo because a decal declaring this was prominently displayed on the side of the car; an aging poser, perhaps?

My views on street racing are very well known on these posts and at the risk of losing all credibility.....

A man walks into the confessional and says "bless me father for I have sinned....I'm 78 married faithfully to the same woman for 55 yrs but last night I stopped for a beer at a local bar. There were a pair of blonde, beautiful 22 yr old twins who came over and sat by me. One thing led to another, we went over to their place and I had the wildest night of passion in my entire life."

The priest says "when was your last confession my son"

The old man says "I've never been to confession, I'm Jewish"

The priest says "you're Jewish, why are you telling me this"

The old man say" TELLING YOU......I'M TELLING EVERYBODY!!!"

Play safe, my son!

No, please don't multiply!

It just goes to show you that even the holiest among us are not immune to the temptations wrought by S2000.

Nice kill, btw...

Was it a beige like color? Cuz there's an early trubo Z (300, I think) at work that parks in the same general area as me. This one has a fairly open exhaust. It has a big turbo sticker on it - it came that way from the factory, I'm pretty sure.

I wonder if that guy will remember this race when he's either bailing his kids out of jail or scraping them off the pavement in a few years. What a wonderful example he set for them!

You are thinking of the "XXth Anniversary Z-car".

Beige with black rocker panels and a gold TURBO decal on the side. I think they also had fender flares.

I think we're all guilty of doing things with (but not in, since it's neigh well impossible) this car that we wouldn't do with mere mortal vehicles!
