I destroy my engine,i need all your help!J'sF22C?
Hi everyone,
Im an s2000 veteran, i drive it as an everyday car since ten years and i never had problem with her.
Since i was driving to milan and i broke my engine cause i was completely without oil....funny,...cause i just had a look at the oil level before start my trip and the oil was there...
I know exaclty how much oil is used to drink the s2k, but after ten years and 185k miles!!!! she keeps surprising me! (why honda never put a fk...ing oil meter??? btw this is another story)
NOW, i don't want to sell my s2k, when i bought it say never, and i still say never...so?
i have my car in the garage without engine and i need to know what is the best thing to do.
1st option : Fix mine??? i already know this answer...NO, cause the cost will be more then $8000 (i broke everything inside, but the trans is ok)
2nd option : buy an used cheap engine for about $3k/$4k? it's difficoult find one with just few miles on it, and it's quite hard understand something about the warranty with the sellers.
3rd option : Buy this : J'S F22C Complete Engine $12,575.00
I just want to say that im very affectionate with my S, and i want something good for her, spend more is ok bt i want to be sure and i want to keep enjoy it for years more
Please help me with this issue, tell me what your suggestion about the j's f22c
Thank you very much
Looking forward to her from you !

Pierpaolo,
Welcome to s2ki! Sorry to hear about the motor, but it's great to hear you're keeping the car!
The right engine for you depends on what you really want to do with your car.
A) Do you want to drive it daily for another 10 years and 200k miles?
Then a stock replacement engine is best. Hondaautomotiveparts.com lists a zero-miles factory-fresh 2.0L replacement for US$5,200+shipping, or if you keep looking, a low-miles used engine will eventually turn up.
B) Do you want to turn your car into a weekend or occasional track-day toy? Then perhaps a J's, Spoon, or other after-market crate motor would be a good choice. Remember, though, that your car will no longer be as reliable, and you could find yourself looking for another engine sooner than you think!
C) Do you want to go all-out and make your car a race car? In that case, I'd say definitely find a used, hopefully low-miles engine, along with a second transmission. You'll be inspecting the engine anyway, you'll have the freedom to make your own modifications, and keeping the cost down will be more important (since you'll need money for all the other expenses that come with racing!).
Finally, keep in mind that your original transmission is geared for a 9000rpm redline. If you buy a 2.2L motor with a lower redline, you will want either a new final drive (4.56 or 4.77) or else a new/used transmission from a U.S. model 2004-2009 car, which will have revised gear ratios. (You might want gears even if you get a 2.0L motor!)
Be sure to search this site for lots of good threads from people who have been in your situation. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.

Find a stock replacement would be the best option for sure, but in italy i can't find a new one, the link tht you gave me Hondaautomotiveparts.com doesn't work---i hope to find a new engine somewhere.
Btw you put me back to reality, thank a lot a lot my friend!!!

i would say the j's engine is only if you want to race, or make it a weekend car. like someone stated the life expectancy on modified engines is cut short compared to a stock block.
if i was in your shoes, i'd buy a stock block, and maybe turbo it if you want more power. i'm just considering that you're willing to pay for a $12k for a engine, therefore making me believe you can afford the engine and turbo.

Don't go turbo unless you want to be changing engines every few months.
Here's the link I mentioned:
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/
Don't know if they'll ship to Italy, but maybe there are similar sites elsewhere in Europe? Also look in the Marketplace section of s2ki.

With the way the dollar is, by it here and have a freight forwarder sea freight it to you in Italy.
The right freight forwarder will pick it up from the seller and bring it right to your door. Sending you one bill.
take 50% off all the pricing you find here in the US. Making a new motor $3K before shipment and I'd estimate $600-1200 in freight your way. Depending on the rates you get and don't forget duties in Italy - they are high on everything.
