I can't stop driving this thing
I bought an '06 S2000 just over a month ago and I've already put 2000 miles on it. Granted, almost half of those miles were from several trips I've recently made to my hometown (about 150 miles round trip) but that still puts me over 1000 miles in a month and I only live about 4 miles from work.
In my last car I put about 9000 a year on it. I'm on track to put at least 15000 on this thing in my first year. I sit at home and try to talk myself OUT of going for a nice leisurely drive because I feel guilty about racking up the miles but I always end up back in the car.
And to think I very nearly did not even buy an S2000. I had three cars on my list: 350z, LS2 GTO, S2000. I previously drove an LS1 Trans Am and I've always been a power junkie. I drove a 350z and couldn't stand it. The lack of torque and terrible interior really turned me off of it. I practically wrote off the thought of getting an S2000 as it has far less torque than a Z and I just assumed I'd dislike it even more. I focused my search on GTOs after driving a friend's 400+whp heads/cam car and I came really close to buying one but it fell through. A few days later I saw a listing for a 2006 S2000 locally so I decided to at least go for a drive and see. The next day I bought it.
Bottom line, anyone thinking about getting an S2000 would be remiss not to at least get some serious seat time in one. Even someone like me who just came off of 6 years of driving cars with 300+ ft/lb of torque (the TA and a VR4 before that) finds complete enjoyment in driving this S2000. My only complaint is the car could use a bit of help in the straight-line department, but that's nothing that can't be remedied with a handful of bolt-ons and a Flashpro. If I still need more after that I'll drop the dough on a Kraftwerks kit.

after 4.5 years of ownership, I still get the "I just need to go drive" feeling. I'll still often take the longest way home possible or go to the store that is the furthest away. I've averaged about 22k miles per year, give or take.

Been 3 1/2 years for me and I dont think I will ever lose the feeling of wanting to drive it. Maybe because I have to store it every winter which gives me that urge every year of just wanting to drive it as much as possible when able.
