Default I burnt my clutch from launching my S at 7000 RPM.........

I tried to race my friends V8 Jeep, and I got smoked by it on the first gear
so on the next signal stop... I rev'd the damn car to 7k rpm and as soon as I let go my clutch... car wasn't moving... I was like wtf?
I thought I wasn't on the first gear.. but I looked at the shift knob and it was on first gear!!!
I was like... holy shit
I smelt bad bad burning crap and now my car makes a wierd high pitch airplane sound when I'm on the highway... like whistling sound as the speed increases
AND
when I take off from 1st gear, the car feels hesitating and kind of stumbles as if it was jerking

I need HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

what kind of damage could my S have taken?
some expert at honda service said the car's transmission or the diffrential might have gone bad...

I'm depressed... didn't know launching at high RPM was a harmful thing to the car

any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

thanks!

"didn't know launching at high RPM was a harmful thing to the car"

you are kidding right?

only thing you can do is take it to the shop and open it up and see what happened.

My car was doing that occasionally when the clutch was almost gone. It was also slipping a bit in the higher gears. Perhaps the whining noise you hear on the highway is your clutch slipping? Might've glazed it from your attempted launch or something. I'm no expert on any of this, but it sounds a lot like when my clutch was dying and slipping.

Btw, you would've spanked the Jeep if the race wasn't so short.

brake stand? what is that. You people should know better than to dump the clutch that high.

If you just have to do it, make sure you let out the clutch a bit quicker than you did. You want the tires slipping instead of the clutch. Some people just slide their foot sideways off the clutch to make sure it pops up quick enough. Tires are a lot easier to change than the clutch.

did that only once, clutch was toast, that smell you had afterwards? that was your disc melting and fluid boiling away....so good luck... clutch is only 8 inches across, can't EVER handle a 7000 rpm launch...

It differs from place to place. I got the one in my '02 S2000 replaced with an OEM unit (including flywheel resurfacing) for $800 out the door. Judging by the other posts I've seen, my guess is that's slightly below average, but I'm not sure.
