S2kvancouver: I live in Vancouver as well. Whereabouts were you? Many of the roads in Vancouver have a fairly large crown to them which exacerbates the problem but on wet roads it is usually not wise to powershift especially from 1-2. You'll actually be slower doing this than trying to achieve the quickest possible yet smooth shift.

Having ridden and raced sportbikes, and powerful RWD cars in my previous life, the S2000 is not unsafe or dangerous. It does require a deft hand and smoothness is paramount. The biggest contributor I believe is the peaky powerplant which makes throttle modulation tough on iffy surfaces.

My favourite time in the S, is when it's really sunny or the roads are just wet. Power oversteer is insanely fun!

Be careful in this car. See how fast other cars are going in the rain, and go 10 MPH slower than the slowest car. This might be a touch too fast, so just keep your eyes open. Also, slow down an additional 5 mph for every 1,000 miles you have on your S02's.

Xviper is running studded snow tires with 2 inch spikes for extra traction, so don't listen to him. He is also a trained stunt driver.

For those with relatively new S2000s, be aware that when your rear S-02s lose tread, the highway becomes an ice skating rink when wet. It can be hydroplane city.
