Default The HVAC selection with the image "top down"

Hi, there is an HVAC selection in the middle showing the image of the top down. There is an arrow in the middle of the car showing air flowing through. How is the air actually directed with this selected? How does this position actually work?

From TFM, available in PDF form online:
Air flows from the center vents in the dashboard above the audio system, the vents on both sides of the instrument panel, and from the floor vents. Select this position when you drive with the convertible top folded.

Helps warm/cooler air stay inside the cockpit

I never use this setting. It seems worthless to me.

If it's cold out and I have the top down I want the air vents blowing on my hands. This setting does not do that.

If it's hot out I want my torso to stay cool, as my back will sweat against the seat. This setting does not do that either.

I was hardly aware of this setting for the first few months I owned my car, so when I was told by another local member of it's apparent usefulness, I too found that on cold days it didn't keep me warm, and vice versa. Personal preference I suppose.

So as stated above if it doesn't work well when the top is down what is the best choice for cooling and heating with the top down?

Are we really giving advice on vent selection? Just play around.

I find the top down selection to be useless too except for keeping my right hand warm, which I'll generally rest in front of the radio door for extra warmth.
