Resurrecting this thread as I had my car checked for the reverse gear problem when replacing seatbelts. They're still claiming nothing's wrong and no TSB's available for this issue and that I should continue the 1-2 gear first, then reverse scenario. I ask if the plunger spring was inspected and was told they would have to tear into the clutch (?) to do this and would take alot of time. Anybody know how difficult this would be to determine, if indeed, a deformity exists of the spring and secondary shifter gate?

Problems
-Driver side Window does not go down when I put the top down.
-Seat belt recall
-Humming/grind noise between 3800 and 4300 rpms

It looks to me like that spring is external of the gearbox and can be inspected by removing a few screws and the shift lever from inside the car after the console plastic is pulled up. A ten minute job if I understand the pictures correctly.

They are either very ignorant, too lazy to do the job, or both.
