Purple Haze

Hi. My shift knob often comes loose while driving and begins rattling around. When I tighten it up it is angled toward the right or left. How can I tighten it so that the knob is facing straight ahead the way it is supposed to?

put the shift knob the way you want it then
adjust the locking nut.
