How to tell if car is Salvaged.

How to tell if car is Salvaged.
I had a minor accident last year and because of the cost to replace the after market parts and paint it ended up salvaging out the car. I bought it back and never sent in the title because I didn't want to spend the extra money since I was going to keep the car anyways. Well I have been having financial issues and so I put it in my Fiancées name. I got the title and it doesn't state anything about it being salvaged on the new title so I was wondering is there a chance that the insurance did not report it being salvaged to the DMV? If someone can show me an example of what a Salvaged Title looks like in California.
I don't plan on selling the car but just knowing the title is not salvaged I would be happy as hell.

when you buy back from the insurance company thats when they issue salvage title on your car..... cuz insurance has to submit all papers to DMV when the car is totalled but they wanted to keep the car

carfax is bs... half the crap on a car doesnt show up even if it was reported.... its just a quick go to tool to help buyers but by no means should it be the final word

A salvage title, on the other hand, I would expect to show up.

Your insurance will have reported the total loss claim to the DMV or proper authorities. Once you sell the car and a new title is issued to the new owner it will be branded with a total loss claim on it.
