Hi guys my first post hope not the last.

I've found an imported S2k from Japan to the UK It could be a 2001 or an 02.
I understand that the 02's had revised suspension, so my question is there any physical way to tell them apart?

maybe serial number or alike?
something in the cabin or under bonnet?
wheel size or brake disks?

There must be something there always is and I just know you guys will be able to help.

02: glass rear window, leather center console, chrome rim around taillights
01: plastic rear window, carpet console, no ring around taillights

The top and rear window may have been swapped out by now so that may not be as telling as the other 2.

Those would be the big ones.

Run the VIN at your registry office. That should tell you everything.

Get the vin#. Goto the 10th number, the number before the "T", that is the year.

ex: JHMAP11451T000288

Thanks everyone that's great! but this Vin tip is perfect evidence.

So fingers cross when I go to see it that it is an 02 and I become a proud S2000 owner!!
