Default How to remove wind deflector

Dumb q: How do I remove teh stock wind deflector? I just purchased a camera mount that goes on the wind deflector's original mounts. I looked at the underside of the wind deflector on the "secret compartment," it is this round type of bolt that I'm not familiar with. I also don't have the handbook so I have no idea what tool I need to get to it. I have an 01 S2000 (I searched, and can't find help).

Look "behind" the defector base. You'll see two little plastic caps. Pop those out and you'll see the screw heads. Open the lid and you will then see the nuts underneath, which you can hold with needle nosed pliars while turning the screws.

Just did this tonight on my MY01. The nuts on my car are pressed into the plastic of the lid. As Viper says, on the top side of the deflector you will see 2 small oval plastic caps. They are a little difficult to remove. Use a very thin blade screwdriver with the end wrapped in a bit of tape (will help prevent a scratch if the screwdriver should slip) and pry them up. You will see the philips head screws. Once you unscrew them the deflector will come off. Then, if you need to remove the captured nuts, you can take a thin shaft instrument (I used an allen wrench...but it doesn't matter) and push the nut out of it's captured well.

Excellent - this is just what I needed to know, to install the camera mount I won at UK's Megameet 2 back in September 2005

6 hours until we're on the Silverstone National circuit...

Hur, Hur!

It was definitely worth removing - they weren't allowing suction-cup mounts in the cars at Silverstone, only bolted on brackets.
Video footage to follow on thread above... soon!
