Today I did a very stupid stupid thing. I was in my car (alone)coming from my friends house. I see this eclipse pull behind me and revs. The light turns and we are off. I knew their was a turn ahead but, i have taken this turn so many times, I though nothing would happen if i pushed it a littttttttle bit more. I was going TOO fast for the first turn. And then ALL OF A SUDDEN My tail just completly went. I tried to countersteer it but i knew if i kept on trying i would smash into the divider. So i steered the WAY of the skid in order to avoid smashing into the divider and applied my brakes fully. When i came to a stop, I was a couple inches away from the railing. I was already thanking God, then i see the guy i was racing (still didn't make the blind corner), he turns full speed and he sees my headlights in his face. I really though that he was going to hit me with that speed, but somehow he swerved in time. So he BARELY missed me. Then a minivan and another car come out of the corner, they are able to go around me, WHILE giving me a "what the F*ck are you doing" face. So now, i'm facing the wrong way on the highway. I quickly get to the shoulder and wait till i "THINK" there isn't another car coming around this blind corner. I made a "K" turn and just like that, it was all over. I had to pull over to the shoulder to just calm myself down. The whole ride back was a ride of DEAD silence, No music, no nothing. Just thinking. I know that this will make me stop racing for a while. But speed is in my blood, I know i will be out their doing it again. So tommorrow i'm planning to go their and take pictures of the skids, and put it on this post that is next to my car. To remind me of how horrible it could have been, for me and for others. I will try not to race again but i doubt it will be for to long. Please no "how stupid are you?" post. I realize now that i'm not the amazing driver i though i was and that i could have been killed tonight.

Seems to me that you shouldn't have let off the gas so rapidly. You can deny that you did...but i bet you $100 that is what you did. Next time, you'll know.

Lips i let go of the gas before i was even in the turn. When i was making the turn. My clutch was in. I was just turning too fast, too sharp.

Never lift off of the throttle in a corner.

I think you shouldn't have the clutch out during the turn, because you just took one way to control the car out of the equation.

I didn't, I am an experienced driver and know what to do and what not to do. This is what happened. I was ABOUT to go into the corner. I saw i was going to fast so i put the clutch in and hit the brakes a bit. I let go of the brake the second i started to make the turn. When i started to skid, my car was just coasting. I really don't think anybody put in my place would have saved themself from a full 180 degree skid as i went thru.

Just curious, but why did you press the clutch in? You never want to be coasting when making a turn...glad to hear you're alright though.

No offense, but you say you are an "experienced driver" and know "what to do and what not to do".
Then how did you end up facing the wrong way on a public highway?

Have you taken some professional race car driving training?

I understand your need for speed. Why else would we buy these cars?
Lets try and keep the racing on the track, who knows, the life you could save may be mine

Clutch in eh? So your heading into a turn without power - yet I thought I heard you say you were experienced?

Rule # 1. You never turn a vehicle unless you have control of the driving wheels either through throttle application or trail braking!!

I bet you're a little more experienced now eh!

ace039, glad to know you got away with any damages to you and your car, I know how you feel when you calm yourself down and just drive back home with no music or anything ...... been there done that

I watch a lot of those Best Motoring videos, and from the "professional" stand point, s2k's rear lifts up quite easy when the car decelerates compare to other similar competitors.

From you post, I think your car's rear end lifted more when you applied the brakes after the engine stop accelerating when you push the clutch in, so the front end dips a little more, and the quick turn-in gave u the oversteer ....... is your alignment off ? my civic's alignment was pretty off after a couple donuts in the snow.

I guess S02 is really sticky
