Default How much should I pay for a cracked windshield repair?

Aside from my $500 insurance deductible...how much would I be looking at? Would it cost just the deductible, or are there places that would charge less? How much is a windshield anyway? Oh yeah, a truck kicked up a rock that gave my windshield a nice 12 inch crack. stupid rock

Well, first, double check your insurance coverage. Usualy there is a separate deductable for comprehensive and collision insurance. Once you turn 25 your insurance drops, and a high comp deductable does not save you much money. If you have already told your insurance company about the crack, then you are just looking to pay for the repair yourself. Otherwise, lower you comp deductable, and then report the crack a month or so later.

I was quoted roughly $600 from one dealer. This is for OEM glass. I was also quoted around $150 for non-OEM.

It doesn't cost you a thing. Your insurance covers it completely.

Just had my windshield replaced last week. It didn't cost me anything since I have full coverage on my windshield. The insurance company picked up on the charges, it was around $650 or so for everything. I got an OEM windshield, I was surprised to see the retail listed price at $1045 for an OEM windshield!!!

Shouldn't cost you anything, at least in Florida. Down here the insurance covers it completely. That coverage extends from a rock ping to a complete through and through crack. Makes me want to yell at these people who ride around with a thoroughly messed up, hard to see though windshield.
Check your policy but I'm sure I'm right.
